Horizons

October 2016

Walking around the city, I’d made a few sketches of buildings, and the way their windows shone with different colors during the day depending on whether the blinds were closed or not. I’d wanted to do something along the lines of those patterns, but wasn’t sure how. While working on a different tool that would “blur” parts of an image by shuffling chunks of pixels, I found that using that sort of approach on a photo of a horizon would get me close to my desired look.

The photos I used to make these were taken by Ikhasul Amal, Watchcaddy, Michelle Lai Lai, and Michael Henley. The resulting images are also shared under a by-nc-sa license.
